This is an incredibly difficult time for so many and may be for some time to come, as the fight against Covid-19 continues. The greater Puget Sound region has been home to the Laird Norton business entities and the foundation for more than two generations. And we feel fortunate to be able to give back to our communities at this time.
Last Friday, Laird Norton Wealth Management joined the entire Laird Norton enterprise — the Laird Norton Company, Laird Norton Properties, and the Laird Norton Family Foundation — to provide funding to organizations on the front lines addressing the greatest needs in our communities. In addition, members of the Laird Norton family personally contributed to this fund, bringing the total amount donated on May 15, 2020 to $1,159, 000.
The funds were distributed to these four nonprofits:
- Pierce County Connected COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund (Pierce County, Washington)
- Washington Food Fund (Washington State)
- Winona Community Foundation COVID-19 Relief Fund (Winona, Minnesota and surrounding region)
- Seattle Foundation COVID-19 Response Fund (King County and greater Puget Sound region)
In addition, LNWM employees personally contributed to the UW Med Emergency Response Fund, the Seattle Foundation COVID Response Fund and Northwest Harvest. That total gift, including a corporate match, was $24,000.
We have always believed that people prosper when communities prosper. And we know that our clients as well as many others in our community have also been making significant gifts to respond to this crisis. If we can help, our team is here to recommend, coordinate and fulfill individual giving strategies.
